Free Monthly Guided Walks

Join us and explore Wolsingham’s beautiful scenery on one of our free, friendly and welcoming guided walks held on the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Our walks are free of charge and open to anyone able to negotiate countryside obstacles such as stiles and muddy patches. There is no membership required, and no need to book - just turn up on the day.

Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome to join us.

Dogs are welcome although some walks may include restrictions for dogs - see individual walk details

Our Monthly guided walks take place on the 2nd Saturday of every month leaving Wolsingham Town Hall in the Market Place at 10am.

Something for Everyone!

All guided walks are circular and are between 5 and 10 miles in length. They are open to anyone able to negotiate countryside obstacles such as stiles and gates, and the occasional muddy patch!

Let's Stick Together!

We set off as a group, and we walk as a group! so the pace is set by the slowest walker. Our Walk Leaders take regular stops to allow the back marker to catch up. Once everyone is ready, we set off again - as a group!

(...we also stop for a picnic break at the halfway point so don't forget your snack!)

Meeting Point: Wolsingham Town Hall.

Car Parking: Please park responsibly. St Annes and Demesne car parks now operate a modest parking fee.

Terrain: Mainly path, farm track, meadow, and minor tarmac roads.

Toilets: Wolsingham town centre (close to meeting point).

Recommended Equipment for this walk: Walking boots, walking pole, a snack and a drink for the halfway break.

Dogs: Well behaved owners and their dogs are welcome to join us. Please see our Useful Info section for advice on walking with dogs.

Details: This 8-mile walk provides a mix of woodland, farmland and quiet country roads. There are two moderate 100m ascents, one immediately on leaving Wolsingham and the second after Bradley Burn. For anyone prefering a shorter route, there is a café and a bus stop with regular buses back to Wolsingham at the 3-mile point.

The route heads NE out of Wolsingham across fields and Redgate’s Bank before heading East on Greenwell Edge and down to Bradley Burn Café. We then climb up to Thornley, taking a tour of the village before heading West to Snipe Gate and back onto Greenwell Edge. We drop down from the edge through some woodland before crossing fields back to Wolsingham.
